Volunteering

“Ashfield Football Club has been situated within the heart of the community in the north of the city since 1886. It is a proud club with an incredible history. My first visit to the old Saracen Park was in 2002. I played against Ashfield with my first junior, semi-professional, club Royal Albert in an important league game. We were beaten 3-0 by a strong Field side but my vivid memories of that day came from the experience and aura around the club. The smell stuck with me, and still does; that old musty smell mixed with deep heat. But also a scent that has laid amongst the Saracen stadia for generations.

I joined Ashfield FC later that season and my affiliation has grown with the club since, as a player for 12 seasons and more recently, first team manager.

Ambition is enthusiasm with a purpose. I have ambition for this great club. I feel, now more than ever, a club like Ashfield FC, can fulfil a community purpose, to revigorate, to regenerate, to involve and to inspire.

Our community has laid bare for too long. Our club was built by volunteers over 135 years ago. Today, we need volunteers to help us to achieve new heights. Hopefully our site grabs your attention to consider being part of our journey"
